January 2010 Ford Mustang Sales Figures Released

Ford Mustang sales figures for January are in and by all accounts they are decent numbers given a few factors that were working against them.  January and February are historically the worst months for vehicle sales given it's winter for much of the country and buyers would rather stay where it's warm than get out in the cold.  The weather around the country has been pretty unpleasant with winter storms covering much of the U.S. for most of January so it's only natural to think this was working against them.  Heck even parts of Florida saw sub-freezing temperatures which is unheard off.

Another factor holding sales down could be the unveiling of the 2011 Mustang V-6 and GT with the new more powerful engines.  Buyers are probably holding off purchasing until the new models arrive at dealerships which means the first four months of 2010 are going to be rough for 2010 model sales.  For the complete breakdown of January 2010 Mustang sales check below.

Sales of the Ford Mustang for January of 2010 were 4,747 compared to 2,944 from January of 2009 showing a 61.2% increase in sales from the previous year. Year to date Mustang sales are 4,747 compared to 2,944 for 2009, which is a 61% increase.

Month to Month sales were down quite a bit as December 2009 sales were 6,527 compared to January 2010 sales of 4,747 which is an 27% decrease.

Taking a look at the competition the Chevrolet Camaro sold 5,371 while the Dodge Challenger sold 1,683.

  1. Seems like for is putting a lot of hope in the Mustang. It seemed like almost half of Fords Detroit Auto show display was dominated by the Mustang

    Bad stuff?

  2. The mustang is the flagship for Ford in more ways than the Ford Gt. The Mustang is for everyone and evokes a time when things were easier and the Muscle car was king.
