Here’s some good news for those bow-tie fans waiting for when they can get a drop-top Chevrolet Camaro.
Our colleagues at Automotive News are reporting that Magna International Inc. has received the contract from General Motors to manufacture the convertible tops for the car. German company Edscha AG originally won the contract, but became insolvent.
GM is planning to build an estimated 20,000 Chevrolet Camaro convertibles when it’s introduced in mid-2011, according to Automotive News.
Magna had been making convertible tops for GM before, producing units for cars such as the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, Cadillac XLR and the Chevrolet Corvette. The Corvette is currently the only convertible still produced by GM.
