Aston Martin Cygnet Concept

Six months after first announcing its partnership with mass-market brand Toyota, Aston Martin has finally revealed the first production of this odd affiliation, the Cygnet luxury minicar.

Still a concept, work on the Cygnet is ongoing and will continue into 2010 when it’s hoped that it will become a production reality, initially available to Aston Martin customers in the UK and Europe.

This latest viral video reveals that Aston Martin is serious about the new Cygnet, although the degree of this seriousness is still unknown. The reasoning behind the project is to enable Aston Martin to comply with tough new fuel economy and emissions regulations coming into effect in Europe by 2012, but whether or not production becomes a reality remains to be seen.

  1. The car that James Bond needs when his DBS won't fit through the narrow allies. It reminds me of a Smart car.

  4. Since it is only being offered to Aston Martin clients, does that mean its a freebie for buying a sports car?

  7. I would like to say the Cygnet does not suggest the end of required beasts like the DB9 and the DBS. It would only add to the reach and give Aston Martin access to new markets. “The offering of a ‘Cygnet’ with a DBS, DB9 or Vantage is a sole combination of opposites

  9. Hi Guy's,
I still can't believe this is real although I have to say I quite like it! Doesn't AM have a technology agreement with Daimler though? A rehashed Smart would make more sense.

  10. Hi Guy's,
If one came free with each Aston, I could see the point. Kind of like a tender boat. But to offer it on its own merit… you’d have to be kidding.
