Don McCain at Shelby Engines

At the 2009 Musclecar and Corvette Nationals ARS promotions caught up with Don McCain, Vice President of Shelby Engines and Godfather of the Super Snake for a one-on-one interview. In the interview Don talks about how he started with Carroll Shelby back in 1964. He also goes into details about why Shelby hired him along with some great history about early days of Shelby Autos. Don also goes into what companies he has worked for over the years including Dana Chevrolet, Cragar, Mel Burns Ford and Edelbrock. His latest job is Vice President at Shelby Engines where he leads new engine endeavors specifically he says they are getting into modular motors. In the interview he talks about a new modular 5.4-liter motor they are working on that will be capable of handling 1,100 horsepower. The interview lasts about 10 minutes but it's well worth the time.
