Chrysler has released Dodge Challenger sales figures for the month of November and as the momentum was building over the past three months it comes to a screeching halt with some lackluster sales numbers.  Is there an explanation for the low sales numbers or is this what we should come to expect from the Challenger.  If these types of low four-digit sales numbers continue how can Chrysler continue to produce this vehicle.  Chrysler may have to step up their incentive offers and financing terms to lure more buyers to the Challenger.  Below is a breakdown of the sales figures for the month of November.

Sales of the Dodge Challenger for November of 2009 were 2,040 compared to 3,364 from November of 2008 showing a 39% decrease in sales from the previous year. Year to date Challenger sales are 23,316 compared to 14,821 for 2008, which is a 57% gain.

Month to Month sales dipped a little as October 2009 Challenger sales were 2,398 compared to November 2009 sales of 2,040 which is a 15% decrease from the previous month.

Checking out the competition, Camaro sales were 6,687 while the Ford Mustang sold 3,627 in November.

For previous months of Challenger sales check out October 2009, September 2009, August 2009, July 2009, June 2009, May 2009, April 2009 and February 2008 -  February 2009.

  1. Lack of advertising, dealer markups and general lack of availability is killing sales. The two local Dodge dealers have 4 Challengers combined, and one of the SRT's has a $10,000 markup sticker on it.

  2. also the fact no one is buying cars now look at the whole auto market sales are down everywhere the cash for clunkers ultimately hurt the industry cause everyone who needed a new car got one

  3. Dealers (at least in Scottsdale, AZ) really are not helping their cause. I actually went yesterday to test drive a Challenger SRT8 with the intent to buy if I liked it. The dealer would not let me test drive it. I guess they don't want to sell them very bad. Oh well, I'll enjoy my new Camaro.

  4. Ya dealers are killing this car. When I bought mine it was the most upsetting, laborious rip-off process I have ever been a part of. I even had to go to Chrysler head office to attempt to stop the dealerships unethical practice, which they were only able to do slightly. The problem is this really is a premium vehicle, and people purchasing it expect a certain level of service which the low life Chrysler dealers just don't seem capable of. If I hadn't been hell bent on acquiring this vehicle since the first day I saw the concept pictures, I never would have bought it.

  5. I agree about the dealers Curtis.
I tried to buy a Challenger RT Classic at four dealerships and was treated very poor...even at the dealership we just got my wife's new Dodge mini van at.
Between the issues with the mini van and how I was treated even though I still like the looks of the Challenger I will NEVER buy one or a Chrysler product again.
Still like the car looks wise, it is a beast.

  6. the salesman are assholes, your going to be paying for a vehicle for a few years and they treat you like a 2nd class citizen the moment you step on the lot. If you dont want to sell me a damn car dont, I'll take my buisness elsewhere. Chrysler needs to have better customer service

  7. I echo the prevailing sentiment here. The Dealerships are biting the hand that feeds them. In their short sightedness to make a few grand in mark ups on Challengers they are losing customers and hurting Chrysler. As well, salesmen with poor knowledge of the product they are selling make the situation worse. I hate to say it but I may have turned from buying a Dodge Ram to a different truck for my work dueto the dealerships treatment when I tried to buy a Challenger!

  8. I recently purchased a challenger and was treated well plus dealers I talked to were willing to deal. Local Nebraska dealers were easy low pressure and helpful.

  9. Apart from killer style dodge trucks are known for their reliability which definitely makes it a hot favorite in this market. Buying a used dodge truck is a wise choice since you can buy a high quality vehicle in almost top condition at a bargain price.

  12. I bought a 2010 challenger rt for 2800.00 under the sticker in Indiana. I found that some dealers would not budge off the sticker. Lucky I found one that did....so they are out there.
