In December at the L.A. Auto Show Ford will announce the new powertrain details for the
2011 Ford Mustang. As of now all speculation and rumors point to the return of a 5.0-liter engine with 400 horsepower and a new 3.7-liter V-6 engine with around 300 horsepower. More details are now starting to leak out as we have learned through a recent fleet distribution news bulletin that Order Banks will be open for the 2011 Mustang on January 18, 2010 and JOB1 will start March 15th. It gets better as more 2011 MY information was found while searching through
Ford's order bank computer. Package 402A which is the California Special model will presumably return for 2011. Also a Shelby
Convertible was listed with 5.4-liter SC 4V V-8 as the engine choice which means that engine will return unchanged unless it includes the aluminum block. Other notable items listed in the order bank include an SVT Performance Package (option 67F) probably intended for a Shelby model include 19-inch wheels, RR Spoiler, Over The Top stripe delete and 3.73 limited slip. There was also a Brembo Brake option package, 6-speed automatic trans and three different tire options listed.
These are definitely some great finds which I am sure will keep Mustang enthusiasts on edge until the full details are released by Ford.
