Rumors have been swirling about the 2011 Ford Mustang powertrains for most of this year and it seems we will have closure on the issue by year end.  According to Ford's global product development chief, Derrick Kuzak our questions will be answered at the 2009 L.A. Auto Show in December where Ford will release details on the new engines.  Derrick was on FoxNews.com's Fox Car Report with our sister site GreenCarReports.com editor John Voelcker along with Alex Nunez of AutoBlog and as they were leaving Derrick let them know about the upcoming news.

For those living under a rock the 2011 Mustang GT is said to be getting a 400 horsepower 5.0-liter V-8 and the base Mustang will get a more powerful 300+ horsepower Duratec 3.7-liter V-6.  Both engines have been expected for some time given how powerful the Camaro and Challenger engines are.

  1. Man I sure hope the 2011 Mustang can kill the Camaro SS and I'm still wondering how big and bad the Shelby will be next year.
