There has been a lot of news on the Camaro Convertible front this past week and trying to decipher all of it has given me tired head so I will post up what has been said.  We do know a production version of the Camaro convertible, more specifically a red jewel model with gray interior was shown privately to Chevrolet Dealers last week in Detroit.  According to Camaro5.com it was "mobbed by the dealers in attendance" who apparently liked what they saw, why wouldn't they.

Other Camaro convertible and Z28 news came from Brent Dewar, Vice President of Chevrolet global who said during a web chat session, "We gave a sneak peak of the Camaro convertible privately to our dealers this week. We are working on the specific timing but it will come out soon."  At the end of the web chat with Dewar he did say the Camaro Z28 is not officially a go for production but there is "lots of excitement to do it."

More Camaro convertible news came straight from the CEO Fritz Henderson who was asked druing a Q&A session, "Been patiently waiting for Camaro convertible. Best guesses are 2012 model in 1st quarter of 2011. With surging popularity of this model is there any chance of GM considering a push for earlier release?" Henderson replied, "Good guess and no."

Take all this news for what it's worth but it looks like the Camaro convertible is on it's way.  Will it be a 2011 or 2012 model, I don't think anybody really has a clue at this point.  We will just have to wait and see what shakes out.

  1. The news about the convertible is very exciting to hear. Here in Ohio, I'm beginning to see more Camaros on the road. Great to see!
