Iacocca Mustang at Barrett-Jackson
The kind of money brought by the
2009 1/2 Iacocca 45th Anniversary Mustang #005 is usually reserved for the first production unit in a limited run but this time someone thought highly enough of Iacocca's creation to pony up $352,000 ($320K + fees). The price paid for the fifth Mustang out of a forty-five production run was the highest price paid for a Mustang at this auction and the second overall for the entire auction at this years Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas collector car event. There was no denying the overall auction winner as the vehicle was an original 1965 Shelby Cobra roadster which went for $440K.
The #005 Iacocca 45th Anniversary edition Ford Mustang comes with a 550 horsepower engine using a Ford Racing polished supercharger and a five-speed manual transmission. The Iacocca Mustangs are sold exclusively through Galpin Motors in California. The MSRP on the other 44 models is $89,950, well below the auction price, so waiting may be the best thing to do if you can afford this type of vehicle.
