It's time again for the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino with the first day of auctions taking place October 7th.

This time around Ford is offering up one rare SVT Cobra for auction in the form of a 2000 SVT Cobra 'R' Mustang with build #002 of a 300 unit production.  The Cobra 'R' features a 5.4-liter 32-valve V-8 engine rated at 385 horsepower with top speed being 175 mph.  This Cobra 'R' has been owned by Ford Motor Company since it was built as has #001.  A little history accompanies Cobra 'R' #002 as it was used for several months by Ford Racing as a pace car for various events.  While being used by Ford Racing it was outfitted with safety equipment/lights and a mess of graphics before returning the Ford.  Once returned Ford removed all the equipment and graphics which subsequently damaged the paint, so the Cobra 'R' was completely repainted by Roush's paint shop.  As it stands today the vehicle is in perfect condition awaiting a new owner.  The Cobra 'R' with lot #406 will be auctioned Friday October 9th.

Other notable Mustangs being sold include Lot # 711 a 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 Prudhomme edition concept and Lot #3000 a 2009 Iacocca 45th anniversary #005.

  1. THis 2000 Mustang is not listed with Lot 406 on the Barret Jackson website - you might want to update your information.
