September 2009 Ford Mustang Sales Figures Released

My first post of the month started on a high after seeing a few spy shots of the all-new 5.0-liter V-8 and then as they always do at the beginning of the month, Ford released September Mustang sales figures.  My high quickly turned to a low as September Mustang sales dropped a whopping 22% from the previous month.  I would have say the month-to-month drop has to be a little alarming to the blue oval.  So what is Ford doing to get 2010 Mustang sales back on track, for starters they have kicked in a few incentives.  The first being $2K cash back and the second being 0% financing plus a $1K cash back.  Will these offers kick start Mustang sales for October, only time will tell.

Sales of Ford Mustangs for September of 2009 were 4,917 compared to 4,910 from September of 2008 showing a 0.1% increase in sales from the previous year. Year to date Mustang sales are 51,680 compared to 78,871 for 2008, which is a 34.5% drop.

Month to Month sales were disappointing like I said above with August 2009 sales being 6,289 compared to September 2009 sales of 4,917 which is a 22% decrease.

If you are curious what previous month sales were check out August 2009July 2009, June 2009, May 2009, April 2009, March 2009, February 2009, January 2009 sales figures.

  1. No wonder sales are down. Anemic V6 that's 50 horsepower behind competition. V6 has better front end design than GT.
Rear end design? Don't get me started. Fake gas cap as big as a hub cap. Large blob of plastic underneath rear with the weird tail lamps - looks like a Toyota Celica with its pants pulled down.
    No functional ram air.
Well, my 30 grand stays parked in the bank.

    Bad stuff?

  2. No more cash for clunkers in September....
I am sure allot of v6's rolled out during the "here is other peoples money now go buy a car" fiasco called cash for clunkers back in july and august.

  3. Not sure what to think because Mustang sales numbers per month is not enough to go on, we need to know how sales are doing compared to other cars. If Nissan only sold 1,000 370zs then I would say that sales are fabulous. Has the Mustang's market share in it's segment fallen as well? Plus I would guess by September sales of "fun" summer type cars would begin to fall. The recession is hitting all car makers and models, except maybe the Camaro, with all that pent up demand. I would be happy if sales were higher, but things might not be so dire, comparatively.

  4. I will definitely purchase this car. On the road, the 2009 Ford Mustang is the model for enthusiasts. I found that despite the aged solid-axle layout, the suspension does well in soaking up imperfections while keeping the tires in contact with the pavement.
