Sales of the Dodge Challenger for July of 2009 were 886 compared to 2,895 from July of 2008 showing a 69% decrease in sales from the previous year. Year to date Challenger sales are 15,968 compared to 3,990 for 2008, which is a 300% gain.

You are probably asking yourself why Challenger sales are so low in June and the simple answer is because of the plant shutdowns.  The figure I would really like to see is how many Challenger orders are there to be filled and how many are being built each day to meat those expectations.  Unfortunately my high level security clearance as a Challenger blogger does not go very far at Chrysler so those facts will stay under lock and key for now.  Expect to see sales up in August as production gets ramped up again.

Month to Month sales were again disappointing but we know the reason and we fully expect those numbers to increase next month.   June 2009 Challenger sales were 2,695 compared to July 2009 sales of 886 which is close to a 67% decrease from the previous month.

For previous months Challenger sales check out June 2009, May 2009, April 2009 and February 2008 -  February 2009.

Taking a look at the competition for the month of July:

Camaro sales were 7,113 - details

Mustang sales were  6,686 - details

  1. 'I don't think the Sales are down due to the Factory closures, in my area in Wash DC you can search the dealers on the web and there where always 200 challengers on the lots with in 200 miles ....R/T and SRT's...the only one that was moving past couple months was the B5 Blue. Need some more colors and interior selection, sorry to see the convertible not being made, I was waiting for that, I still would buy a Challenger, but I wanted the convertible

  6. I bought a challenger in may of 2009. i ordered it on the 15th. I managed to get a 2010 SE because of the production delays. It was made in canada during the bankruptcy, all except a two plant shutdown for all employees until after the hearing is what i was told. Will my challenger be of the 886 that were built in July? At the time late july I was told they were not building anymore for 2009 but would start production for the 2010. somehow i managed to get a 2010. I got it yesterday, It is all white, just like i ordered it. It is georgous, I couldn't be more happy. It was a long wait to get it, but well worth it. I'm so glad you have the challenger forum which has helped me throughout my purchase of the car. Thanks for the help everyone. mojai1
