Compared to the regular Porsche Cayenne models like the S and Turbo, the GTS is just that little bit sportier and more exclusive. After all, it features an enhanced 4.8L V8 engine, has been lowered 24mm, and comes with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system as standard. Porsche has now upped the exclusivity factor of the SUV with the introduction of a new Cayenne GTS ‘Porsche Design Edition 3’ model.

Joining the previous Edition 1 and Edition 2 cars based on the Cayman and Boxster S, the new Edition 3 is packed with a number of unique features for the Cayenne and will be built in a run of 1,000 units.

Distinguishing the special edition model is a Lava Grey paint scheme, extended roof spoiler, racing stripes, and 21in alloy wheels in a matching anthracite finish. The vehicle also comes with bi-xenon headlights as standard and tinted windows. The interior comes adorned with black leather upholstery with red contrasting seams on the instrument panel and doorsills, as well as a new three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.

Some of the more interesting elements of the cabin include a controller for an exhaust valve, which allows the driver to modify the volume emanating from the SUV’s tail-pipes, and a 5.1 surround sound system from Bose with no less than 14 speakers. All 1,000 Edition 3 models also come with a set of Porsche Design accessories, which includes a Chronograph watch and four-piece luggage set.

Sadly, no mechanical medications have been made but the standard 405hp (302kW) and 369lb-ft (500Nm) output is nothing to sneeze at. On the road, this means acceleration from a standstill to 100 m/h in just 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 251km/h.

Orders for the Cayenne GTS Porsche Design Edition 3 will kick off at the end of May and pricing has been set at €79,100. No word yet on U.S. pricing and availability.

  1. accessories on this SUV are trying real hard into turning it into a sport scar which it is not. Too much is going on which is making it not look appealing.

    Bad stuff?

  2. That paint scheme and rims are all wrong. As far as turning this into a sports car, the Cayenne has always been the sports car of the SUV segment.
