Rally legend and fearsome street machine are just two of the titles Audi's Quattro earned during its production run in the 1980s. Not built since 1991, and without a suitable analogue in the current Audi lineup, the Swiss tuners at O.CT have taken it upon themselves to turn out an S3 hatchback built to bring some of the Quattro's magic back to life.

Starting with the S3, O.CT adds a 'Stage 3' kit, including a new engine control unit (ECU), sport exhaust, intake and an upgraded intercooler to turn out 328hp (245kW) and 314lb-ft (425Nm) of torque. That's enough power to shave a full second off the stock S3's 0-62mph (100km/h) time, bringing the total down to about 4.7 seconds.

Top speed is raised to 164mph (265km/h) from 155mph (250km/h), and a new O.CT custom coilover suspension is installed, improving handling. Braking is similarly upgraded with eight-piston 372mm brakes.A set of 9x20in wheels up front and 10x20in wheels in the rear ensure ample rubber meets the road. The appearance treatment includes a carbon fiber engine cover, plus a carbon air intake and battery cover.

On the outside, the car's aerodynamics, designed by Swiss styling expert Boehler, add some rally-themed elements to the sculpted modern look of the S3, thanks to widened fenders, a redesigned rear bumper and functional aerodynamic fins.

Overall the final package isn't so much a replica of the Quattro, but an homage to its performance. Only 100 of the cars will be built, with a price tag of $85,500 (€67,000).
