Based on the popular Elise road car, Lotus is set to release a new circuit car that will utilise the same running gear from the Elise R and Exige, but in a much lighter body. This means the same supercharged, Toyota 1.8-litre, 4-cyclinder engine but with slight modifications for better air-flow. Power derived from the Roots-type Eaton M62 supercharger is 243bhp at 8,000 rpm with maximum torque of 174lb-ft at 7,000 rpm. The 0-60 will be around the 3.5 second mark.

Costs will be minimised by parts sharing among the other Lotus cars as well as servicing and parts-sourcing benefits for potential owners. Though limited to track-only use, Lotus will build a few road legal cars and maybe even export some to the lucrative US market.
