Not only is Alfa Romeo bringing in its svelte looking 159 saloon to the United States but in the latest news, the Italian automaker will kick off its return with the introduction of the limited-edition 8C Competizione.

Though the Italian brand won’t sell any cars in the U.S. in volume until 2010, deliveries for the 8C Competizione will begin in late 2008.

The U.S. will get half of the 8C Competizione’s total production of 500 hundred cars, and you can expect to pay at least $200,000 for the privilege of owning one.

For that kind of money you get a supecar built with carbon fiber and powered by a Maserati 4.2-liter V-8 engine. Expect peak output to hover around 400 horsepower or more.

And in 2009 a convertible version called the 8C Spider will go on sale.
