For the 2007 model year, General Motors Company [NYSE:GM] has given its Corvette Z06 a price hike. It now has a sticker price of $70,000, that’s $4,310 more than the outgoing version.

Surely there must be some extensive engine upgrades or some really cool features installed to cause the jump in price. Not quite. Changes to the car include a larger glove box that is common across the Corvette range, a new acoustics package with improved sound-deadening and OnStar as an option.

Maybe the extra development costs went into making the shiny new Atomic Orange metallic paint job. Either way, you still get a 505-horsepower, 7.0-liter V8 beast for under $80,000. We all know GM could use the extra dollars.
