World Car Fans has the scoop on the new Peugeot 308, which is expected to be formally announced next year and go on sale the year after. The 308 will be a completely new model, unlike the facelifted 307 released last year. It goes up against some tough new competition, with everyone from the Italians to the Koreans cutting in on the hot hatch action.
The 308
hatchback will grow slightly over the previous model but will be slightly lower in height, which should make for a sporty look. The obligatory sedan, coupe-convertible, and wagon models are also expected, but Peugeot will also add a mini-SUV powertrain to this model. The 308 will also use the new engines co-developed by PSA and
BMW.
