The first official images of VW’s new Cross Golf, which is based on the MPV version of the Golf. The Cross Golf is a similar concept to the Cross Polo and Cross Fox models sold in Europe that are essentially raised versions of their donor models.

The biggest differences are the SUV-style bumpers, larger 17” alloy wheels, 60mm higher suspension, and side body protection bumpers. Inside, changes are minimal, though aluminum details will be offered as an option. Petrol engine options include 102hp 1.6L and 140hp 1.4L TSI, while diesel will be offered as a 105hp 1.9L TDI or 140hp 2L TDI. Expect the Cross Golf to hit dealerships in early 2007.

More high-res images after the jump.
