Spy Shots: Peugeot’s upcoming 4007 crossover
New images of Peugeot’s 4007 crossover have leaked onto the Internets revealing details of the new car’s interior. Peugeot and its partner Citroën have teamed up with
Mitsubishi to design new French
SUVs to compete in the burgeoning crossover market. Accordingly, the 4007 (C7 in Citroën guise) is based on Mitsubishi’s new Outlander platform and will be built at Mitsu’s Okazaki plant in Japan.
From these images, it looks like the new SUV won’t feature the French brand’s usual sense of interior flair. The images show an interior that is almost identical to the Mitsubishi version and the quality of the materials appear to be very poor. However, this is a production test mule so we’ll have to wait until its debut at the next year’s Geneva Motor Show before we complain.
Mechanicals will remain almost identical to the
Mitsubishi Outlander. This means the French version will ride on the intelligent transmission AWC (All Wheel Drive Control) system and utilize the same 170hp 2.4L petrol engine in base form. There are two
diesel options, either a 2.0L or 2.2L HDi with the latter producing 170hp. Pricing is expected to fall in between 20 and 30,000 euros and is positioned directly with Renault’s upcoming Koleos.
