Rumours about a high performance Corvette supercar in the works can now be slightly validated thanks to these spy images of a suspicious black test mule. According to its photographer, the makeshift power bulge on its hood is likely to be housing a huge supercharger whose turbine sound could be heard over the rumble of the Z06’s LS7 V-8.

Hopefully the new vehicle will be a road-legal version of the Z06-R racer that was entered into FIA-GT series in the GT3 class. That car’s 7.0-liter V-8 would rev up to 7,200 rpm and produce 10 hp more than the standard version.

Insiders suggest that a supercharged version of the Corvette could produce in excess of 600 hp, and back in early May General Motors Company [NYSE:GM] Performance Cars chief Tom Wallace announced that there is a "Blue Devil" on the way.
