The spectacular crash of Gizmondo (and a Ferrari Enzo)

You may remember the controversy earlier this year surrounding game console manufacturer Gizmondo’s director crashing his
Ferrari Enzo at high speed. Police investigating the incident discovered he was drag racing a McLaren SLR when he crashed, and that both cars were illegally imported. The director, Stefan Eriksson, was over the legal limit for alcohol when he crashed at over 200mph, close to the top speed for his million dollar supercar. Further digging in to his background revealed that he was the leader of a Swedish mafia gang and had used money from Gizmondo to finance a lavish lifestyle including a $3.8m mansion and a second Enzo. That’s right, a Swedish mafia boss gets two Enzos out of a total production of just 399. An article over at
Wired attempts to explain just how deep this rabbit hole goes. Stories like this are proof that sometimes truth can be stranger than fiction.
