Rumors of an all new Supra have been circulating ever since the last model went out of production almost a decade ago. Now, UK’s Auto Express has released a possible rendering of the new Supra, which is expected to follow the lines of Lexus' upcoming LF-A coupe. However, the similarities end there. While the new Lexus coupe is expected to be powered by a 500bhp 4.8L V10, Toyota’s new Supra is likely to receive a revised version of the Lexus GS450h's 341bhp 3.5L V6 hybrid powerplant.

Completing the drivetrain will be a new seven-speed sequential automatic transmission driving the rear wheels only. The sprint to 60mph is expected to take less than five seconds, while top speed will in excess of 170mph. Despite the high performance, the new Supra should return about 30mpg. Prototypes have already been seen testing at Germany’s Nürburgring circuit and the expected launch date is in 2008.

A concept version is likely to appear at January’s Detroit Motor Show, but in the meantime you can enjoy this rendering in full by following the jump.
