Mazda unveiled a modified CX-7 SUV at this year’s SEMA auto show that was designed and built by the company’s US design team in Irvine, California. Codenamed the Adrenalin, the aggressively styled SUV is based on the all-new Mazda CX-7 but has been tweaked to give the vehicle a true sports car feel.

Mazda engineers dropped the CX-7’s stock six-speed automatic transmission and replaced it with a six-speed manual lifted straight out of the MazdaSpeed6 sedan. The Adrenaline was further enhanced with the help of rally star and drifter Rhys Millen to churn out more than 300hp thanks to the re-tuned engine, modified intake and exhaust systems and higher boost pressure from the turbo.

Visual enhancements include the new front and rear fascias, clam shell front clip, wrap around rear spoiler and the unique rear glass design. New fenders and doors give the Adrenaline a three-inch wider overall stance, while the 22in EXE wheels fill out the widened fenders.
