Chinese automaker Chery has announced it will show two new concept cars at the forthcoming Beijing Motor Show, with the possibility that the new cars will make it to production if public reaction is strong enough. They’ve tasked Torino Design, the company created by former Bertone boss Roberto Piatti to design and develop the concepts, reports
ACspy.com.
The show-cars are called Lui and Lei (He and She in Italian) and are also an indication of Chery’s ambition to break into the European car market. They hope that by enlisting an Italian design company the car will appeal to European tastes. Similar moves were taken by
Toyota and Hyundai to make their offerings more appealing.
Lei is a 4m coupe designed to seat five passengers, while Lui is a 4.3m compact SUV (or is that crossover?).
