You may remember these spy images of a suspicious Nissan coupe that turned up last month, which was rumored to be a new Altima coupe. UK's AutoExpress is reporting that the car in question will be rebadged as a Renault for European markets. Renault is planning a coupe version of the next generation Laguna, with the company head Carlos Ghosn keen on releasing 26 new Renault models between now and 2009, so the Altima coupe from Nissan may help ease that task.

Previous reports have suggested that Renault's new Laguna would source drivetrains from Nissan, namely its 3.5L global V6, and the front-drive Altima would fit in perfectly with Renault's front-drive lineup. New models will feature styling derived from Renault's Nepta concept with the first model scheduled for a 2008 debut.

  1. The Laguna looks stunning, but in Spain goes for 29 000 euros with only 150 hp, and top model for over 42 000 euros.
