Lexus will debut the all new LX 570 luxury SUV at the upcoming New York Auto Show, replacing the current LX 470 model that’s been around since 1998. Like the previous model pictured above, the new version will share its roots with Toyota’s Land Cruiser but gets a new 5.7L V8 sourced from the Toyota Tundra pickup truck. The VVT-I equipped V8 will come with a six-speed automatic and is likely to develop close to 350hp so as not to eclipse the output of the 400hp 5.0L V8 in the Lexus IS-F sports car.

Spy shots of both the new LX 570 and Land Cruiser have been in circulation for a while now and reveal a vehicle that’s very similar to the current models. The front of the test mules follows Lexus’ new family face with the angular headlights and horizontal bar grille. Rear styling is similar to the outgoing model, sharing the boxy shape and square taillights.

Lexus’ third-generation full-size SUV will have a tough road ahead competing against the likes of the more recent M-Class and BMW X5.
