Research firm Team Velozzi has presented these initial images of a car it hopes to enter into the Automotive X-Prize. Looking more like an exotic supercar than an enviro-friendly X-Prize entrant, the Velozzi design shares a striking resemblance with Ferrari’s F430 but the final car is said to be fully designed in-house.

The Velozzi is an electric car concept that derives its power from a lightweight, high efficient Lithium Ion battery pack. This battery pack in turn is recharged by an on-board Velozzi micro turbine, which uses any heavy fuel, such as gasoline, ethanol, methanol, diesel or bio diesel.

Velozzi claims it's car will be a plug in-multi fuel true hybrid electric vehicle, which will enter the Automotive X-Prize, a car that will be capable of achieving 100mpg fuel economy. Its designers hope that by building a ‘beautiful’ green car, people will become more interested in buying such vehicles and best of all, the technology developed will be licensed to all automakers.
