Ford may not be the most respected brand in its homeland, but over in the UK, the Blue Oval has been voted the most trusted brand for the seventh consecutive year by subscribers of Reader's Digest. Ford beat out competitors from 15 different countries and 38 product categories with over 24,000 respondents taking part in the annual survey.

Although the survey finds which brand is trusted most, respondents assess factors including value for money, image and quality and also the consumers’ perceived relationship between their trust in brands and criteria such as “responsibility towards the environment” and “high ethical standards”.

This is only the seventh time the survey has been run and each time Ford has taken the honors. It doesn’t come as a complete surprise. Ford of Europe offers some spectacular vehicles including 2007’s European car of the year, the versatile S-Max, as well as the stylish Mondeo and Focus.

  1. I just don't get it.
Is Ford not an American company?
I understand there is the European division, but they report to Detroit ultimately, correct?
So why is it that in Europe you have these fantastic cars which are looked upon favorably right next to Hondas, BMW's, Toyotas, etc. and yet here Ford only manages second best, at best.
It really p*****s me off, I like Ford designs, so what is the deal, why can't these cars be made available here?

    Bad stuff?

  2. Gus, Ford is American and over here it must bend to American tastes, which means average cars packed with useless gimmicks and oversized cupholders.

At least GM is importing more Opel models for its Saturn label but even these cars require Americanized changes.

  3. Guys, I'm writing from Swiss. I'm an owner of the Ford Mondeo mk3 (2001). I can't understand why Ford don't import the US models for Europe & the european models to North America !

Right now, all the german's (VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes) sales some models with the last generation of diesel engines ! Ford has a big opportunity, 18 months before to import the PSA (Peugeot-Citroen) diesel engines (that engines are used on Volvo, Mazda, Land-Range Rover & Jaguar) on the US models. Now on the Range-Rover, we can buy a V8 turbocharged diesel engine.

What we can see on the two sides of the Atlantic sea ? North american market wants & haves cars like Peugeot 207 or Ford Fiesta. European markets haves Cadillacs, Chevys, Corvettes officialy imports from USA (to my eyes, it's a great thing) !

I never understand why Ford Europe don't wants to import the Mustang to import to Europe. Japanese market have officialy the Pony car. Not that f*ck*n european market ! The world have fall on the brain ?
