Volkswagen will be updating its ‘VW’ logo for the launch of the new Golf Mark VI, following the wishes of CEO Martin Winterkorn to make the badge more prominent. It won’t be a complete redesign. Instead the logo will grow in size compared with the current one and protrude further out from the grille.

The same treatment will be applied to the lettering of ‘VOLKSWAGEN,’ which will also feature a glossier finish, reports the GCB.

VW fans will have to wait longer than originally planned for the next-gen Golf. The volume seller is now expected to hit dealerships in late 2008 according to statements from VW’s production development exec Ulrich Hackenberg. Winterkorn was apparently unhappy with the original design penned for the new Golf and ended up sending designers back to the drawing board.
