Spy Shots: Ferrari Dino prototype

Though officials from Ferrari have consistently disputed claims that a new entry-level model is in the works, a new prototype has been scooped by spy photographers. Though the car looks like a regular 599 with camo gear, onlookers claim the test-mule ran notable quieter than the 599 and even the F430. Rumored to be the successor to the original Dino, early reports suggest it will be launched by 2010 and could be manufactured by Maserati to avoid Ferrari’s limited capacity problems.

Maserati, meanwhile, is working on its own smaller GT and the two cars could share much in common under the skin. Though the original Dino featured a V6 powerplant, any successor will undoubtedly run a new V8 engine with at least 400hp on tap.

If not the Dino, then what else could Ferrari be testing? The Enzo supercar is next in line for an update but this is likely to be based on the FXX so the entry-level Ferrari is entirely possible. Head over to Autoblog to see the images in full.

    Luca di Montezemolo has already dismissed the "Dino" speculations. He also stated that their entry level cars are their used cars. It will remain the same for some time to come: V8 Berlinetta > V12 GT's > "Supercar".
