The all-new Land Rover LR2 has only been on sale in the US since April and it’s now joined by the better equipped 2008 model LR2 HSE. The new variant gets body color bumpers and side sills, a rear spoiler, titanium door handles and 19in alloy wheels. Changes to the interior include new electronically adjustable seats and a storage box with a sliding cover.

The compact SUV’s mechanical package remains much the same as the lesser LR2 SE, which means a 230hp (172kW) 3.2L straight-six can be found under the hood. The engine is matched to a new six-speed automatic transmission that offers manual sequential gear changes when required. There’s also a driver-selectable sport mode for even more responsive performance.

The LR2 HSE still comes with Land Rover’s latest assortment of off-road technologies. These include a new permanent intelligent AWD system, hill-descent control and a new gradient release control mechanism.
