Audi revealed its super-wagon
RS6, rival
Mercedes-Benz has released official details and images for the wagon variant of the new C63 ahead of its world debut at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Sporting the same powerdome as the saloon, the new AMG Estate packs the same 457hp (336kW) 6.3L V8 and equally aggressive pumped fenders. The high-performance estate accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds and is electronically limited to a 250km/h top speed.
Power is transferred to the wheels via AMG’s SpeedShift 7G-Tronic automatic transmission, with the driver able to switch gears with a pair of paddle-shifters behind the wheel. The gearbox has three different levels of comfort, ‘C’,’S’ and ‘M’ modes, and there’s also a new feature that automatically blips the throttle when downshifting.
The AMG high-performance braking system consists of large internally ventilated and perforated disc brakes, which reside within five-spoke 18in wheels shod with 255mm rubber at the back and small 235mm tires in the front. If 18in isn’t enough, AMG offer a larger 19in set of their light-alloy wheels as an option.
