Spy Shots: 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1

An almost completely undisguised test-mule for the upcoming ‘Blue-Devil’ Corvette has been spotted ahead of the car’s official reveal at the Detroit Motor Show in January. Though we still don’t have a confirmation of the car’s new name, earlier reports suggest it will carry the classic ZR-1 moniker.

These latest spy shots reveal several never before seen details such as the 20in wheels wrapped with 325mm tires up back and a pair of cooling vents on the car's flanks, necessary to cool the huge disc brakes. At the rear is the unmasked diffuser with integrated lights.

Under the camouflaged bonnet is said to be a new supercharged version of the LS3 6.2L V8 engine, which could output anywhere up to 650hp. Head over to Jalopnik to see the images in full.

    Bad stuff?

  2. I've driven my friend's normal Corvette, and it is blazing fast. Handles perfectly, just an amazing car.
However, some of the interior bits were cheap, and there was a rattle in the door when you closed it.
So, while it is definitely the best car you can buy for the money, it is still not on par with European or Japanese quality at the high end. But man is it fun, I can't imagine what this new one would be like...
