Last month, a suspicious Ferrari 599 was spotted at the Nurburgring wearing sheet metal that differed to the regular production model. Onlookers also claimed the vehicle ran notably quieter than the 599 and even the F430, suggesting it could have been a prototype for a new entry-level model rumored to be a successor to the original Dino (pictured).

We now have a video of the test-mule complete with a sound recording of its engine. Earlier reports claimed the Dino would feature a mid-mounted V8 engine displacing in the vicinity of 4.0L and an aluminum chassis. Power levels should be upwards of 400hp, with drive sent to the rear wheels via an F1-style gearbox.

Ferrari is also rumored to be unveiling an all new 2+2 coupe-convertible at January’s Detroit Auto Show, which you can read about in our previous story by clicking here. Otherwise follow the jump for the new Dino video.

  1. Who am I to tell the guys at Ferrari, but it just seems like a dino should have it's little engine somewhere behind the driver. Whatever they call it, I still want one.
