Mercedes already teased us with its GLK Freeside Concept just over a week ago and now we lay wake to a second design study based on the upcoming GLK compact SUV, the all-new GLK Townside Concept. Where the previous Freeside was pegged as a rugged off-roader, the Townside is aimed squarely at those buyers who prefer to remain on the cafe strip.

The Townside comes with shorter springs (lowering ride height by 30mm), mulitspoke and polished alloy wheels and smoother panels than its off-road cousin. The Freeside, on the other hand, gets longer spring travel, chunky five-spoke alloys, side mouldings, a power bulge and a roof rack.

The latest concept was revealed during a special presentation on the eve of the Detroit Auto Show with company Chief Dr. Dieter Zetsche on hand to pull off the covers. Now all we need is the actual production GLK.
