Down in Australia where the Pontiac G8 is manufactured, GM offers a high-performance version of the car tuned by Holden’s HSV performance arm complete with a LS2 V8 engine and a generous 411hp. The U.S., meanwhile, is only scheduled to get milder V6 and V8 models with the most powerful version developing just over 360hp. That could be about to change because according to a GM inventory listing program there will be a 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP fitted with the Corvette’s LS3 6.3L V8.

We can’t be sure if the screenshot of the inventory program, which you can see by clicking here, is actually real but the idea of a Corvette powered G8 is not completely unfounded given the HSV line of cars already on sale in Australia.

In the latest 2008 Corvette, the new 6.2L LS3 V8 engine develops 430hp and 575Nm of torque. It also comes fitted with a dual-mode exhaust system and improved manual and automatic transmissions. Pictured above is a G8 concept GM displayed at last year’s SEMA show. Also on display was a 500hp version of the car tweaked by rapper 50 Cent and New York-based tuner Unique Autosports.
