Following the trickle of leaked information surrounding a new version of the Gallardo being prepped for next month’s Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini finally decided it was time to end speculation and has released this official teaser for the new model. The car will also feature a new name, ‘LP560-4,’ the 560 representing the engine's output in metric horsepower (roughly 552hp) and the 4 denoting the AWD traction.

As confirmed by earlier spy shots, the new car will sport slightly revised bumpers including a jutting front lip spoiler. This model will replace the current Gallardo, first introduced in 2003, until an all-new model is launched around 2011.

In addition to the updated body, the LP560-4 will also feature a new 5.2L V10 powerplant. The larger engine will feature FSI direct-injection technology and develop up 552hp and 390lb-ft of torque, 32hp and 15lb-ft more than the current 5.0L mill. Engineers will be utilizing some of the technologies developed for the powertrain in the R8 and upcoming RS4, including significant changes to the gearbox and permanent all-wheel-drive system.

The LP560-4 will be available with both a manual or optional e-gear sequential transmission, both of which have been revised to send more power and torque to a lighter and more efficient AWD system.
