GM has upgraded its OnStar monitoring and tracking system with two new navigational services for all 2009 models equipped with the subscription-based service. Working in conjunction with the existing Turn-by-Turn feature, OnStar now comes with a new ‘Destination Download’ service that allows users to have the address of their destination sent directly to their navigation system while still driving.

To initiate the feature, users simply press the OnStar blue button to connect with an advisor. After providing address details, the destination is downloaded to their navigation screen within seconds. The second service, ‘eNav’, allows subscribers who already use the Turn-by-Turn system to find and save destinations on MapQuest.com and have the address details automatically sent to the vehicle.

OnStar Destination Download and eNav will be available on over 80% of GM's 2009 models, covering 22 different models.

Also available to subscribers with screen-based navigation systems is XM's NavTraffic real-time traffic information feature. The service feeds road condition data such as accidents, traffic backups and road construction to the navigation screen.
