Comedian Jay Leno took delivery of a brand new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 earlier this month and the car has now starred in the latest episode of his Garage series. The latest clip shows Leno picking up his new car, the fourth SRT8 to enter production and the first to be delivered to a private customer – the previous three were auctioned off for charity.     There's no way that that car handles like European sportscars with the same price tag. It looks good and is pretty fast in a straight line, but it's still an American car. Sure, it probably doesn't handle bad, but it will NEVER "handle with the best of the Europeans".

    Funny! You give a car power, brakes, and the abiltiy to steer/handle and its called "European handling". I would call it common sense but then again we're taiking American car companies here I guess.

    Why not just say it performs as it should whether or not the Europeans and the Japanese for that matter figured that out way before the big three.

    As for the car, I would buy it in a heart beat what a fantastic machine. Death to the morons that buy this and put away thinking its an instant classic. Drive the pants off it as intended, please!!!!

    It wasn't that long ago that most "sports" cars from the US handled like crap.
    Chrysler in particular learned a lot from their partnership with Daimler.

    Agreed, DRIVE IT! Can't wait to see them on the roads here in Southern California...

    Look at the burb weight. All I can say is holy shit! A lot of people say that America has finally made a sportscar that can handle well, but in reality it's a bit too heavy to stack up. The new Suby WRX STi beats it 0-100 km/h by .4 seconds and handles much better, even though it has a lot less power. The key is in the belly rolls. Dodge should really have made this car lighter. For now, the Challenger is still a drag queen. 420 ft/lbs of torque? That's gut-wrenching. This car is an absolute monster, but needs to stick to the strip if it wants to keep up with its foreign competitors. Oh well, it looks great and sounds amazing.

    True enough, it will never keep up with an Evo or STi, but just look at it.
    There is more to cars than Nurburgring times... :)

    You wouldn't catch me dead buying one of these things for oh so many reasons, the chief of which probably is the fact that this company seems to have zero idea of how to go forward and instead chooses to go back to recapture past glories... and for the most part only manages to attract the Fonzy crowd.
