The Ultima GTR may not look a world beater but the British-built supercar has racked up a string of first place titles over the years, including being the fastest car to accelerate to 100mph and back to standstill in a field that included the Bugatti Veyron and Koenigsegg CCX. The GTR was able to complete the 0-100mph-0 feat in just 9.4 seconds, and it will also accelerate from 0-60mph in just 2.6 seconds and pass the quarter mile in 9.9 seconds at a final trap speed of 143mph.

With those kind of performance numbers, Ultima is confident that its GTR supercar will be able to lap the notorious Nurburgring in less than 6 minutes and 55 seconds – smashing the production car record of 7m 27.28s of the Pagani Zonda F and leaving the Corvette ZR1 and Nissan GT-R in its dust.

The only car that would come close is the Radical SR8, which is street legal in the UK and has posted an official time of 6m 55s – the same time Ultima hopes to beat.

Of course, Ultima is yet to prove that its GTR is capable of breaking the record and so far all its attempts have been thwarted by rain. The car being used is the GTR720 road version powered by a 720hp (537kW) V8 engine.

  1. Yay go Ultima! I'll certainly be rooting for them. It may not be as "classy" as the others, but this is my favorite supercar, barring perhaps the McLaren F1.

    Bad stuff?

  2. its basically a road legal race car, so its fugly, yet fast, no prestige, or real "history"

  3. Most Japanese fast cars got no prestige either. But Ultima, I don't know, I find the design to be ... nice! Certainly like to own this on.
