For the challenge, the Tesla Roadster will be fitted with a tracking device, which will enable spectators to monitor the progress of the car as it navigates its way around the 33 mile London course. The Roadster will also be up against 20 other ‘green’ race cars, although the event is more of a technology showcase than a highly-competitive race.
Production of the new car has started at the Hethel-plant in Norfolk, England, and the first models have already been delivered to customers in the U.S. A special limited edition model has just gone on sale in Europe and is priced at €99,000 (approximately $155,918), however first deliveries aren’t expected to start until May of next year.
