Following the previous reveal of the new facelifted 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S models comes latest spy shots and a new rendering of the updated Turbo model due at the end of the year. It will be hard to spot the difference between the new and the old as the images reveal because most of the planned changes will be taking place under the sheet-metal.

The facelifted 911 Turbo range is expected to get an extra 20hp (15kW) to give it an edge over the new Nissan GT-R and return its supremacy at the Nurburgring. The bump in power is courtesy of a new direct-injection system, which is also expected to improve fuel economy. In line with the changes in the new 911 facelift range, the engine in the updated Turbo will also sport increased combustion chambers, a new crankshaft and an upgraded oil and water pump.

Power levels will likely fall close to the 500hp (373kW) mark, which combined with the quick-shifting Doppel Kupplung (dual clutch) gearbox should ensure quicker acceleration and track times.

Visually, the car is being enhanced with larger front air intakes and new fog-lights in the front bumper, giving a more aggressive look. At the rear are a new set of LED taillights and a new diffuser similar to that on the new GT3.

    It amazes me how you guys know more that the manufactures are willing to tell their own salesman. I guess they want us to sell what is in front of us & not look into the future & get distracted. DR.

    I think you have pretty much answered your own question David, sales people care more about selling you a car now then next year.

    I doubt if the facelifted Turbo will beat GTR at nurburgring, to do that, it will need to post a faster lap than the current GT2, upsetting Porsche's hierarchy

    Man, if I had the money...

    But the styling is starting to look old to me. I know it's a classic shape, and it's a perfect machine, but it just lacks flair. But I guess that's what makes it so German...

    The differences are the new LED taillights and reworked exhausts. As for the power hike I hear it that there may not be a power hike at all and if there is on it may not exceed 495 horses to satisfy new Turbo Cabrio and GT2 owners.

    yea I agree with Gus, take a look 20 years back, and now, at least the front end is hard to distinguish now since they went back to the classic oval shape for the headlights.

    I'd go for the hardtop personally.
