It was reported earlier in the day that
2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS models with manual transmission's were put on Shipping HOLD and it has now been confirmed by General Motors. According to the General all shipments of the Camaro SS with manual tranny's have been put on hold until further notice. This does not mean SS models will still not be produced, GM is just holding shipments to try and review data related to the performance of the manual transmission. Questions have been raised in the past few days about the performance of the manual transmission and it seems GM is doing the right thing taking some time to double check their data.
The only model impacted is the Camaro SS with manual transmission. All other models including the Camaro SS models equipped with automatic transmision, and Camaro LS and LT are not affected. Shipments of those vehicles are going on as scheduled. GM's official statement on the matter is below:
Official Statement from GM
"Our engineering team is reviewing data related to the performance of the manual transmission on the Camaro SS, and have temporarily stopped shipment of this model to the dealers.
This only impacts Camaro SS models with manual transmission in production. Camaro SS with automatic transmission, and Camaro LS and LT models are not affected and will continue to be shipped to dealers.
Since this is an "in production" review, we are NOT requesting vehicles be returned for any service or dealer deliveries stopped as a result of this action."
