Sales of the Dodge Challenger for June of 2009 were 1,369 compared to 1,024 from June of 2008 showing a 34% increase in sales from the previous year. Year to date Challenger sales are 15,082 compared to 1,095 for 2008, which is a 1277.6% gain.  The large gain is due to the fact Challengers were only being sold for one solid month and a few days in 2008, so the small figure represents a very small time frame.

Month to Month sales on the other hand were very disappointing for the Challenger with May 2009 sales being 2,695 compared to June 2009 sales of 1,369 which is close to a 50% decrease from the previous month.  These kind of numbers might have some at Chrysler thinking twice about producing a 2010 model.  No official word or press release has been given about the 2010 Challenger so we are still waiting in limbo.  On a positive note 2010 Challenger info has leaked via a few Challenger forums with specs and prices.  Keep your eye out for a future post on the 2010 Dodge Challenger coming real soon.

For previous months Challenger sales check out May 2009, April 2009 and February 2008 -  February 2009.

Taking a look at the competition for the month of June:

Camaro sales were 9,320 - details

Mustang sales were  7,632 - details

  1. Matt, As you may or may not know, production of the Challenger is slow but demand is there. I know two people waiting months to get their Challengers due to slow production. There certainly will be Challengers in Dodges' future for years, with work now being done on near-future up-dates beyond 2010. Don't fuel false rumors.

    Bad stuff?

  2. Hello, the reasons for slow sales in my opinion are numerous, it has been out of production since 1974, not a Camaro Mustang rivalry. It is so big and heavy it can't handle with the lighter cars, the magazine reviews have always given it last place in their comparo's. When was the last time J.D Power, Consumer Reports, ans Consumer Guide have given a Chrysler product a favorable review for reliability, In summary it's a modern boat like my old 1966 Chrysler "300".
