Sales of Dodge Challengers for May of 2009 were 2,695 compared to 2,619 from the previous month showing a virtual dead heat for month to month sales.  For May of 2008 which was the first month Challengers were officially on sale they sold only 71 units.  As much as I would love to throw a ridiculous increase in sales number at you from the previous year I will just say it was substantial (3600%) due to the fact Challengers were just hitting the market.  Year to date Challenger sales are 13,713.

Comparing Challenger, Mustang and Camaro May sales we see the Challenger is still lagging behind both.  Mustang sales for the month of May were 8,812 while the 2010 Camaro came in with 5,463 sold.  For me it's no surprise the Challenger is behind given the long history and large enthusiast following each of the brands have.  Hey if the Challenger had a 45 year history how many do you think they would be selling, they are only working on 4 years of history in the early 70's, not bad at all.

    When are they going to start production of the SRT again? I ordered mine in April and haven't heard a thing from the dealer.

    Hope sales pick-up a bit more to keep the Challenger in the Dodge line-up.

    I believe if the dealers had product (B5 blue RT's etc) sales would be higher. My experience is you can't find what you want or you wait for months and "hope" you may get one. I'm hoping......

    Dealer delivered my '09 6 spd-manual in Jan after 8 weeks. The car is more than expected in almost every aspect. Great job by the SRT-8 group.

    Well, I got a SRT8 w manual shift after about a month of haggling with other dealer who couldn't get me the stick shift version of an RT. So glad now I splurged for the STR, It's fast and looks great. Gotten lots of "looks great" or "is it fast" comments by people on the streets or other drivers.
    Now that I have one, it wouldn't bother me to see production stopped, as it might help buoy the resale value. I paid MSRP, with dealer throwing in an extended warranty for 50% of normal cost.

    The Challenger looks great but it seriously over priced by about 5 grand considering it's basically a Charger/300C.
