Sales of
Dodge Challengers for May of 2009 were
2,695 compared to
2,619 from the previous month showing a virtual dead heat for month to month sales. For May of 2008 which was the first month Challengers were officially on sale they sold only 71 units. As much as I would love to throw a ridiculous increase in sales number at you from the previous year I will just say it was substantial (3600%) due to the fact Challengers were just hitting the market. Year to date Challenger sales are 13,713.
Comparing Challenger, Mustang and Camaro May sales we see the Challenger is still lagging behind both. Mustang sales for the month of May were 8,812 while the 2010 Camaro came in with 5,463 sold. For me it's no surprise the Challenger is behind given the long history and large enthusiast following each of the brands have. Hey if the Challenger had a 45 year history how many do you think they would be selling, they are only working on 4 years of history in the early 70's, not bad at all.
For previous months Challenger sales check out April 2009 and February 2008 - February 2009.
For more on how well the Mustang did check out May 2009 Mustang Sales.

Now that I have one, it wouldn't bother me to see production stopped, as it might help buoy the resale value. I paid MSRP, with dealer throwing in an extended warranty for 50% of normal cost.
