2010 Mustang GT vs 2010 Camaro SS vs 2009 Challenger R/T

This is what we have all been waiting for, the 2010 Mustang GT vs 2010 Camaro SS vs 2009 Challenger R/T comparison, who will come out on top as Editor At Large, Arthur St. Antonine from Motor Trend puts all three through various performance and handling tests.  In the video above Arthur drives each car giving his commentary on what he likes and dislikes about each while throwing out performance and handling numbers.  Arthur started off with the 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T, than moved to the 2010 Mustang GT and finished his tests off with the 2010 Camaro SS.  To see what car came out on top you will have to watch the 10 minute video, not really they ended up choosing the 2010 Camaro.

  1. "Mr"

You need to update this site with more content. How about updating it every time a new mag or someone writes a test review about the Mustang and linking it for us?

    Bad stuff?

  2. Why are they comparing apples to oranges????
Using top line Camaros and Mustangs and comparing them to the MIDDLE model of the challenger.
They should compare it to the top model, the SRT-8 with the 6.1L hemi! of course then they couldnt feel good about themselves...

  3. The Dodge Charger SRT8, with its 425 horsepower (420 lb-ft) 6.1 liter Hemi (Dodge Charger SRT8 test drive), does 0-60 in five seconds, 0-100-0 mph in the mid-16s, and 60-0 braking in about 110 feet... (http://www.allpar.com/cars/lx/dodge-charger.html)
In any case, e46 M3 still wins with technology that is almost 10 years old! (4.7-4.8 secs 0-60) Mind you this is also a 6 cylinder. American engineering is a joke. I wont mention the new m3 specs because the car is 75k but one from 2001-2006 is about 25k-30k and still is very competitive. Also, it would kill these cars in corners...

  4. You forgot the 2006 Pontiac GTO. The muscle car that started it all!

  5. @ Bob, your a F*cking idiot. Why would I buy a used M3 for 25k-30k when I can get a brand new Mustang, Camaro, or Challenger for 30K-32K? And the CTS V series is better than the M3, M5 and is cheaper. Get off the Europeans balls, you homo! On another not however, I'm glad to see these 3 cars competing again.

  6. Bob, im sorry. but your very wrong about american cars being a "joke". your little v6 m3 is a joke, and i can say this because i work for mercedes benz.. and i cant tell you that they are PROBLEMS. lets put up a shelby GT500, or a zo6 or the saleen s7 or a ford GT, you call those cars a joke? ha your m3 is twice as much as these cars.. you know nothing about cars, so keep your mouth shut. thanks.
    _Amercan cars FTW

  8. The goal in the camparos is to match cars that are somewhat equal in price. You'll note the usual comparison is to the Mustang GT vice the GT500 (~$55K). That's Corvette territory and not Camaro kind of bucks. The same kind of goes for the Challenger - the SRT8 is an additional $10K over the Camaro 2SS. I think these comparisons are fair. I also think the Mustang is going to dump their aged engine in 11. Not sure if the Challenger will be sporting Fiat blood in the future...

  9. I now these post are now dated, but Brain was so right. Ford is dumping the old 4.6L, and moving to a all new 5.0L. It is about time, and ford claims a 0-60 in about 4.4 to 4.5sec. Although I am for ford, but I can't wait to see what 2011 mustang gt and camarro z28 can do. And um....I don't think any of the challangers will be able to challenge either of the two. Mean while the R/T can barely keep, the SRT-8, which is out of the price range my have to fill in the gap. But maybe dodge have plans for the r/t.

  10. Bob is right on the money. A 10 year old BMW M series is a better value. Speaking as a part time mechanic and as someone who currently owns a new Chevy and a 2001 BMW, there is no comparison. New American cars are built to be disposed. Snap together plastic and cheap electronics. BMW parts are cheaper, MUCH higher quality, and MUCH MUCH easier to work on. Ever try to do maintenance on a newer GM? It's a nightmare. The truth may sting... But it's still the truth.
