Yes folks you read the title right, a 1993 Cobra being custom built and outfitted with a Twin-Turbo setup on a 5.4-liter Shelby GT500 motor with the owner hoping for 1,000 horsepower.  The man behind the build, Michael Minor aka "MSM69Z28" on TheTurboForums.com has already been down the road of modifying this 1993 Cobra once before.  The first build with his 1993 Cobra involved a blown 347 which resulted in 425 RWHP only to have the Supercharger crap out on him.  Not wanting to rebuild he decided to let the car sit awhile until he decided what he wanted to do.

In early 2007 Mr. Minor decided to go all out and build the ultimate fox-body Cobra, I say that because when you see the photos you will understand how bad ass this car is and will be when he is done.  He started by dismantling the Cobra down to the shell and gutting the interior.  With the interior out he did a custom minitub for his widened wheels that will use 345/30/18 BFG Drag Radials.  He also installed a fuel cell, an 8-point roll cage and other sub-frame bracing for added support.  Other features found on the car include a tubular modified suspension, custom Art Morrison IFS, custom fabricated motor mounts, custom front and rear driveshaft loops and custom fabricated aluminum oil pan.  The big ticket items as he calls them include the GT500 motor, MMR900 5-speed transmission, GT500 twin clutches & flywheel, 3.73 Auburn posi & 31 spline moser axles, Wilwood brakes and the turbos which he has not decided on yet.

The project is still ongoing with Mr. Minor hoping to complete it by the end of 2009.  To appreciate the whole build you really need to read through the thread over at TheTurboForums which is 14 pages long.  This is where he updates the build of 1993 Cobra.  I have posted a few misc. photos below of the build in no certain order but more can be found at TheTurboForums.com.  The photos below will give you a feel for just how much work he is putting into this.

  1. "WOW."

That is one sweet sweet sweet looking project. The fabrication is looking nice so far too. Wonder how much that project is going to cost by the time he is done..
