According to several sources across the web Ford is indeed developing an all-new 32 valve 5.0L V8 engine with the code name 'Coyote' for a return in the 2011 Mustang GT and 2011 Ford F-150.  The all-new 5.0L V8 powerplant is said to have 400 horsepower and 400 ft-lbs of torque.  The new 5.0L V8 has been rumored for quite sometime and comes as no surprise to Mustang fans who knew Ford would have to do something to keep up with the new Challenger SRT8 and 2010 Camaro SS.  Ford has made no official announcement on the new 5.0L V8 as we expect it to stay that way until sometime in 2010.  With the refreshed 2010 Mustang GT coming with the 4.6L V8 in a few months Ford would not want to hinder sales of their new pony car by releasing info on the new 5.0L V8.

  2. "Hmmm"

I'm not understanding why Ford would wait a year to put the 5.0L back in. The people who buy the 2010's will be ticked when they find the next year's GT will have substantially more power. Info like this getting out will really hurt 2010 sales....

I hope they also get more surspinsion work more then the 2nd stage w/ those 3:73 gears. I also hope to see that 6.2L beast of an engine tuned and droped in the Mustang for a Mach 1 or BOSS.
p.s the new mustang looks great.

  4. its probably a bored 4.6L with 2 spark plugs per piston, a variant of the new 6.2L (uses similar heads to the 5.4 Ford GT)
but is this new motor gonna be a 2Valve, 3Valve, or 4Valve?

  5. Its actually a completely new motor. 5L DOHC 4v, 400 horses with similar fuel economy to the current 5.4L, its going to be a monster and with only 25 less hp than the camaro but at 400lbs less it will dominate.

  6. the mustang wont even need 400 hp to beat the camaro since it weighs alot less. but if it gets 400 and the jazz up the suspension and interior..add a few 5.0 elements wing etc...and let her rip. im a gm fan but ill look into one of those for sure. svt cobra got my vote. im currently procharged ls2.

  7. its a 32 valve DOHC 412 horsepower monster. it was engineered to be bullet proof from the factory. with 11 to one compression its gonna be hard to supercharge or turbo in stock form.

  8. Mustang "Jenny Craig"
Wonderful to have a modern powerful new engine. Now to maintain supremcy.I would be interested to know if 100-150-200lbs.could be removed from 2011 Mustang using 1.aluminum for drive shaft, axle shafts, suspension pieces, body parts,radiator;2.lighter weight wheels, brakes, electric motors, seats, battery 3. any other weight saving items.
Think of how the 5.0 would handle with 200lbs.missing.Would be interested if readers could suggest some or all of the parts that would permit a Mustang Jenny Craig.Invitation also extended to Ford engineers.
    Sincerely,
    Barry Oland

  9. I think it a very smart thing Ford is doing by bringing the bullet proof 302 that made the 5.0 insignia so famous.

  10. I plan on using this engine on a 1974 porsche 914 that weights about 2300 lbs weight would not be a factor and for a transaxle I have a Pantera zf -2 box with the shift linage. Seams like most people in the USA does not build anything them selves.
