At this year's Palm Beach Barrett-Jackson auction Jack Roush was on hand to auction off the last 2008 P-51A Mustang (#151) built. To entice bidders Mr. Roush announced the high bidder would also receive a flight with him on his personal P-51D Mustang vintage World War II airplane. Then Mark Fields,
Ford's president added more fuel to the fire by offering the winner the opportunity to be the grand marshal at the Saturday November 15 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Homestead Miami Speedway which includes throwing the
green flag for the final race of the 2008 season. With the auction coming to a close Roush added one more item, his trademark straw hat he was wearing at the time. Bidding ended at a $135K.
The car being unique with it's #151 build number also had a few other styling cues to keep it a one-off like the ROUSHcharger and valve covers painted a Spitfire green to match the hood stripe. Other unique touches included fluid covers having green accents, the rear decklid had a blackout panel added and boost and oil temperature gauges were added to the interior.
